Statement by polish friends of Cuba
Polish Friends of Cuba strongly condemn the new attack on Cuba, announced by the US President Donald Trump on the 1st of May. The Executive Order of the US President means tightening of the existing sanctions and the illegal blockade of the Republic of Cuba. It involves threats to entities involved in the international trade of the crude materials, oil, fuel and other commodities. According to the Executive Order any company having contacts with the Cuban government may be subjected to sanctions and restrictions in operating in the United States.
This is another illegal act violating international laws, principles of the self determination of nations and freedom of trade.
The Executive Order is also a clear attack on Cuban society. It greatly impacts for example the ability to transfer money to and from Cuba by threatening non US banks and financial institutions.
We are certain that the US imposed sanctions will not break the iron will of the Cuban People. Donald Trump is losing his grip on power. With threats and attacks, he wants to cover failures of his domestic and foreign policy. We are certain that soon his time will pass and Cuba will remain socialist, preserving achievements of the Revolution.
