Washington, D.C., May 15, 2026.– The Embassy of Cuba in the United States hosted a reception organized by the Washington Intergovernmental Professional Group (WIPG), with the participation of professionals from the Washington metropolitan area, primarily linked to lobbying firms, as well as the legal and business sectors. The gathering provided an opportunity for open dialogue and constructive exchange among attendees.
During the reception, Chief of Mission Ambassador Lianys Torres addressed the complex situation Cuba is facing as a result of the economic and oil blockade, as well as the tightening of sanctions. In this context, she underscored the country’s ability to move forward through creativity, resilience, and adaptation, promoting homegrown solutions to sustain its development and social well-being. She also reiterated that Cuba does not represent a threat to the national security of the United States and reaffirmed the willingness to continue promoting a civilized, respectful, and constructive relationship between both governments, based on dialogue and cooperation.
