The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana received on a courtesy visit the President of the Olympic Committee of Botswana

Gaborone, April 24, 2026 – The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, received on a courtesy visit this morning the President of the Olympic Committee of this brotherly country, Mr. Tshepo Gopolang Sitale.

During the cordial meeting, both parties celebrated the current good state of bilateral relations and examined prospects for cooperation in the field of sports.

The Botswana sports leader acknowledged the high quality of Cuban sports and thanked the diplomat for the valuable contribution of Cuban coaches to the development of sports in his country in the recent past.

The Ambassador, for his part, expressed gratitude for the interest in once again having Cuban coaches of different sports disciplines in Botswana and highlighted the strong ties of sports cooperation that happily existed between both countries until 2016.

Both parties reaffirmed the willingness of their governments and respective sports institutions to continue working toward the further strengthening of collaboration in the sports sphere for mutual benefit.

Mr. Gopolang was accompanied by Dorothy Tlsgae-Gaseitsiwe and Obakeng Ambrose Ngwigwa, Chief Executive Officer and Programs Director of the Olympic Committee, respectively.
