Pretoria, 6 October 2026. — Fifty years on from the Barbados tragedy, the Cuban Embassy in South Africa paid tribute to the 73 people who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on Cubana de Aviación flight 455, carried out on 6 October 1976.
The ceremony served as a well-deserved tribute to the victims of one of the most atrocious acts of terrorism committed against Cuba, as well as a reaffirmation of the commitment to continue demanding justice and condemning all forms of terrorism in all its manifestations.
The Cuban Embassy in South Africa reiterates that the memory of those who fell remains alive in the Cuban people and in all those who defend truth, dignity and justice.
As Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz put it: “When a vigorous and virile people weeps, injustice trembles.”
