Ante todo deseo felicitarlos por el Día de la Medicina Latinoamericana.
The opening of the 7th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Cuban Hospital of Dukhan is a reason of great honor and pleasure for me, since this event plays an important role in the efforts of both, the directives of the Hospital and all members of the Cuban Medical Brigade to enhance constantly your knowledge and professional skills, thus permitting all of you to be every day more efficient and to render better medical services to the increasing number of Qataris and patients of other nationalities being received and treated in this hospital.
The spirit of permanent improvement that we observe in the members of our medical brigade is totally in line with the general policy promoted and applied by our Government, particularly in the field of health, and fully coincides with the efforts being made by the Qatari authorities to raise the knowledge and professional level of the personnel, both local and foreign, who work in the health system of the country.
The coincidence of both Governments concerning the application of priorized development strategies for the health sector brings important mutual benefits, because on the one hand the Qatari people is receiving health services from an increasingly capable specialized staff and, on the other hand, our doctors and health personnel in general, at the end of their staying in Qatar, return to Cuba and eventually provide services in other countries, with curriculums enriched by the practical experience and the theoretical knowledge acquired here, in this case favored by the use of the most modern technologies such as those existing in this hospital.
Hence the importance of these scientific meetings and others courses, symposiums, conferences, seminars and events in which you participate during the respective mission in Qatar.
With that attitude of permanent improvement and elevation of your knowledge and professional skills you are also paying a well-deserved tribute to those who together fostered this magnificent project and were founders of the Cuban Hospital of Dukhan, which today is the pride of all of us; I refer to the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, Fidel Castro Ruz whose first anniversary of his death we commemorate, and to the Father Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
For that reason I wish you much success and benefits in the development of the 7th Scientific Meeting of the Cuban Hospital that we are now inaugurating. Thank you.
