The Ambassador of Cuba, Vilma Reyes Valdespino, participated in the commemoration of the XIII anniversary of the ALBA-TCP, celebrated in the Venezuelan Embassy in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The activity, which also remembered the anniversary of the death of the Liberator Simón Bolívar and the day of Loyalty, assembled intellectuals, representatives of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines-Venezuela Friendship Association, educational, cultural personalities and members of the media.
When speaking before the large audience, the Ambassador of Cuba indicated that, within a few hours, on December 14th, representatives of the ALBA-TCP member countries will hold, in Cuba, the Political Council of the organization, an occasion that will result propitious to reflect on the imperative need for unity, as well as to express support and solidarity to the heroic resistance of the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela.
The diplomat highlighted that the neoliberal offensive against the progressive processes of the Region, the political-mediatic attacks against Venezuela, the restrictive migratory policies of the North American Administration and its extreme and selfish commercial protectionism, show the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean the need and the importance of remaining united, integrated, create and improve the economic, commercial, political coordination and collaboration mechanisms, as well as strengthen a common resistance to climate change.
She also stressed that the Latin American and Caribbean region had the foresight to declare itself a Zone of Peace, in January 2014, within the framework of CELAC. A proclamation that not only reflects the will of the region to live in peace and banish the scourge of war, but also requires from the rest of the members of the international community to respect this choice.
The Venezuelan Ambassador, Yuri Pimentel, made an exhaustive and complete analysis of the historical, political and economic circumstances of the creation of the ALBA-TCP, of the path, traveled until today in the task of translation of the ALBA-TCP dreams into concrete results. He highlighted the role of Hugo Chavez in the construction of this collaboration platform, while underlining the continuity of Simon Bolivar's legacy in the accomplishment of President Chavez.
Finally, the musical group ‘resistance drummers’ premiered a song, dedicated to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and his contribution to the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
