Fernando Gonzalez holds a meeting in Belfast with leaders and activists of the Sinn Féin party.

Belfast, June 22, 2018. After the courtesy visit to the Mayor of Belfast, Fernando had the opportunity to make a brief tour of the city where he was shown the physical limits that were imposed in the past and that delimited the neighborhoods between Catholics and Protestants, between unionists and republicans, as well as scenarios of confrontations and authoritarian repressions. He also visited a center that carries out important community work that seeks to preserve the memory of those who gave their lives for their ideals, the innocent victims of the conflict and at the same time work for the consolidation of peace and the economic and social development of the communities.

Then Fernando, at the headquarters of Sinn Féin, had the opportunity to hold a pleasant exchange with leaders and activists of the Party, headed by Declan Kearney, National Chairman.

Both parties exchanged information on the situation in their respective countries, perspectives and immediate projects in which they are engaged. The progress of the process of updating the Cuban economic model, the constitutional reform underway, the consequences of the blockade, among other issues, attracted the attention of those present.

Another reason for concern was the situation in Latin America and the onslaught of regional oligarchies and imperialism against the progressive processes in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the commitment to renewed solidarity with these processes and especially with the Bolivarian revolution.
