Roseau, May 8, 2019. A meeting to discuss issues related to the "Agreement of Cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Housing and Lands in the Commonwealth of Dominica, for the Constructive Recovery in the Commonwealth of Dominica ", signed on June 14, 2018, was held in the afternoon of yesterday, May 7, 2019, at the seat of the government of this country. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Cuba, Ulises Arranz Fernández and the Head of the Builders Brigade that works in Dominica, Mr. Juan Antuch Suarez. On behalf of Dominica, Ambassador Steve Ferrol, Secretary of Cabinet Prime Minister's Office, was present.
In the 11 months of work carried out by the 74 employees who are part of the builders' brigade, they have repaired the roofs of 15 buildings of the "State College", the ceilings of 4 primary schools, 136 roofs of houses, the roof of the bleachers of the botanical garden and the assembly of 357 lightings that are used in the roads of the country. Currently they continue repairing roofs of houses, carrying out the complete reconstruction of a primary school in Salisbury and other social works.
The objective of the Cooperation Agreement between both governments is to provide the labor force of professionals, technicians and construction workers of Cuba to give continuity to constructive and recovery actions in Dominica after the passage of Hurricane Maria, where aid and cooperation Cuba has been present since the first moments of the country's recovery.
