MINISTER OF FOREING AFFAIRS OF CUBA MEETS WITH AMBASSADORS OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, held on Wednesday a fraternal meeting with the heads of mission of the member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) that are accredited in Cuba.

At the meeting, Rodríguez Parrilla and the Caribbean diplomatic representatives discussed the historical links between CARICOM and Cuba, and the potential to continue expanding cooperation and commercial exchanges in areas of mutual benefits. They agreed on the importance of preserving the region of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

The Cuban Foreign Minister thanked the unwavering support of the Caribbean countries for the resolution against the blockade that is approved every year in the General Assembly of the United Nations. Likewise, the singularity to which several Caribbean islands are presented as alleged non-cooperative tax jurisdictions was rejected. Support, in addition, the Caribbean demand for a fair compensation for the horrors of slavery.

For their part, the representatives of the member countries of this organization recalled the traditional bonds of friendship between the bloc and Cuba.

CARICOM was founded on July 4, 1973, in Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago, and is composed of Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the British Overseas Territory Montserrat.

Bilateral relations with CARICOM members date back to December 8, 1972, when Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica established new diplomats with Cuba, an action worthy of dignity. being something Cuba for the US
