United Nations expert denounces serious impact to the Cuban people due to the blockade imposed by the United States.

Idriss Jazairy, special expert of the United Nations, told to the press that "the activation of Titles III and IV of the Helms-Burton Act undermines Cuba's economic prospects and causes a serious impact on the people of the Island."
Referring to the damage caused by the US blockade on Cuba, the expert also stated that "the impacts on human rights, including the right to development, of this policy of comprehensive economic coercion continue to be documented, which generates a special concern regarding its effects on the right to health, as highlighted in the reports of the World Health Organization."
The recent activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act is part of the aggressive escalation of the current US government against Cuba, whose policy seeks to economically suffocate the Cuban people through interventionist and extraterritorial measures that further exacerbate the criminal and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for almost 60 years.
