Cuba will hold IV Conference on Nation and Emigration

Pretoria, March 6, 2020.- The 4th Conference "The Nation and Emigration", announced by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, will take place from April 8 to 10, 2020 in Havana.
The conference is expected to bring together representatives of the Cuban communities residing in almost 120 countries.
In his official Twitter account, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez specified that the event "will continue the policy initiated by our Commander Fidel Castro in the Dialogue of '78 and will contribute to the process of strengthening relations with our nationals abroad."
In a context of growing hostility from the United States' policy towards our country and an intensification of the blockade, which affects all Cubans, regardless of where they are, and hinders ties between families, Cuba continues to make efforts to strengthen the links with its nationals abroad. The process of normalization of relations between the Cuban Nation and its emigration is continuous, irreversible and permanent.
The celebration of the IV Conference will constitute a new and important step forward in order to continue strengthening ties between Cuba and its nationals abroad.
The event will have a special meaning for young people who, having been born in other latitudes, identify, defend and love the country of their parents and grandparents; therefore, the Conference will be an excellent opportunity to get closer to its roots.
The 4th Conference "The Nation and Emigration" will bring together Cubans who respect, love the Homeland and defend our culture, history and free and independent Cuba. In this sense, the meeting will be a favorable space to debate and work together for independence, full social justice and the well-being of the Homeland.
The first Conference was organized in 1994, the second in 1995 and the third in 2004; as a continuation of the 1978 meeting of this type that marked the Cuban government's policy towards nationals living in other countries.
There are currently 166 Associations of Cuban Residents Abroad, in 79 countries.
