British Ambassador condemns aggression against Cuban diplomatic headquarters

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Cuba, Antony Stokes, condemned today the aggression against the island's embassy in the United States.

On his Twitter account, the British representative in Havana said he rejected any act of violence against a diplomatic premise and expressed relief that no damage was caused to the Cuban mission staff in Washington D.C.

In the early hours of April 30, an individual shot at the Cuban headquarters building in the U.S. capital, with no injuries reported.

The event was denounced by the President of the Caribbean nation, Miguel Díaz-Canel, who expressed that his country is waiting for the results of the investigation into the firearm attack.

Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez stated that it is the obligation of the United States to protect the diplomats accredited in its territory and facilities.

The Network in Defense of Humanity (REDH) joined the voices that have rejected what happened, through a message posted on its website and social networks.

This entity requested the United States government 'a rapid investigation on the identity of the responsible for this aggression and the circumstances surrounding the incident'.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the mission staff was not harmed and is safe, while the investigation is still ongoing.
