Cuba and Mongolia progress in expanding its relations on Health.

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. August 6, 2020. The new Minister of Public Health of Mongolia, Mr. Munkhsaikhan Togtmol, received today the Ambassador of Cuba Raúl Delgado Concepción at a working meeting that served to discuss actions to be developed in this important sphere of relations between both countries. The Cuban Ambassador began the meeting by summarizing the work carried out during the last three years and the progress made in the registration and promotion process of Cuban biotechnological products for the treatment of diabetes and hepatitis, as well as the collaboration of Cuban medical specialists with private health entities in Mongolia.

During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed the Minister on Cuba's progress in this sector, including an update on the battle being waged by the Cuban health authorities and the government against the COVID-19 pandemic. The successful protocols for the care of confirmed cases and the Cuban biotechnological pharmaceutical products used were another of the topics treated. Likewise, the diplomat explained to the Minister about the noble internationalist work of Cuban doctors around the world, including the more than 45 medical brigades that have fought the COVID-19 pandemic in different countries.

The Minister recognized in the meeting the progress of Cuba in the health sector and the production of medicines, he also thanked the selfless help of our people and government to Mongolia in the training of young Mongols in higher education careers, specifically he referred to young people trained in stomatology and medicine. The Cuban Ambassador, for his part, pointed out that currently 19 young Mongols are studying in Cuba, of which about 17 are studying medicine.

At the meeting, the interests of collaboration in health between the two countries were reviewed, reflected in the Letter of Intent signed in 2017 and its implementation in specific work programs that can benefit the Mongolian people in the treatment and control of diseases such as diabetes and hepatitis that today constitute serious health problems.
