Roseau, March 8, 2021. With a simple but emotional act, the International Women's Day was celebrated in Dominica yesterday in the afternoon. Officials from the Cuban Embassy and Cuban health collaborators in this country gathered at the headquarters of the direction of the permanent brigade of health collaborators, to recognize the women who fulfill a mission in this sister nation.
The event began with a few words from Dr. Juan Miguel Santiesteban, who referred to his colleagues with praise, admiration and appreciation for the work they have done. Dr. Juan Miguel, concluded with the reading of some verses dedicated to women, which gave way to each of his companions to read others with the same purpose. For his part, the Cuban Ambassador, Ulises Arranz Fernández, highlighted the altruistic work of Cuban women, especially those who carry out missions in Dominica, in pandemic conditions and far from their families.
The act concluded with the delivery of a present to each companion by her companions on mission.
