The staff of the Cuban Embassy in South Africa, as well as a representation of the collaboration brigades of the Health, Hydraulic Resources and Construction sectors; gathered at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the founding of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and to condemn the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba.
The Charge d'Affaires, a.i from the Embassy, Rebeca Hernández, referred to the recently concluded 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which dignitaries from several countries in their interventions before the Assembly, condemned the blockade imposed on Cuba and requested its immediate lifting. The blockade was one of the 8 most discussed topics in the General Assembly Debate. She reiterated the Cuban people’s gratitude to the South African and the Kingdom of Lesotho people and governments, for the condemnation of the US blockade and for the expressions of solidarity with the Cuban people, in their interventions in the United Nations General Assembly.
Lazaro Rodríguez Martínez, National Coordinator of the Cuban Hydraulic Resources Cooperation Brigade in South Africa, for his part, alluded to the history of commitment and work of the CDRs at different key moments of the Revolution, and the importance of working with the new generations to guarantee the continuity of the Revolution.
