Kingstown, April 8. With deep joy for the duty fulfilled, we bid farewell to twenty-one health collaborators, who worked in an exemplary manner in this sister country for almost four years. This contingent is the initial group that began their work in May 2018 at the Georgetown Hospital, which was built with Cuban assistance. They also worked in the main hospital center of located in the capital and in polyclinics and remote regions of the Vincentian geography.
In his farewell speech, Ambassador José M. Leyva Ventura thanked them for their exemplary attitude, dedication and sacrifice throughout these years. The diplomat highlighted the work carried out in the confrontation with Covid-19 and especially during the explosion of the La Soufriere volcano, which will be one year old on April 9.
On the Conviasa flight that took them to the homeland, a donation of medical supplies was sent to our country, organized by the SVG-Cuba Solidarity Association and the Association of Cuban Residents "Juan Almeida Bosque".
In the evening, the new collaborators arrived to render their services in this Caribbean island. In his words of welcome, the Head of the Diplomatic Mission of Cuba exhorted them to maintain the prestige and quality of Cuban health care, and also thanked the cooperation received from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its embassy here to make both flights possible.
