On April 12, 1978, only two years after the independence of this beautiful nation, which represents in its history and culture the union of three continents, Africa, Europe and Asia, the governments of Cuba and Seychelles agreed to establish diplomatic relations.
The ties of brotherhood and friendship between both peoples have been forged over the years with the training of more than 200 young Seychellois in Cuba and through the work of hundreds of Cuban doctors and many other collaborators in education, sports, agriculture, hydrology, construction, among others. Both countries have shared our common positions in favor of peace, international law and sustainable development. We are especially grateful for Seychelles' unwavering support against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US government against the Cuban people.
On this anniversary we pay our modest tribute to all the Cuban ambassadors and officials who have enabled our countries to reach our present day and continue working to achieve new goals.
Long live the friendship between Cuba and the Seychelles!
