Cuban diplomats visit Palmerston North.

Palmerston North, August 13. The Cuban Ambassador fulfilled an extensive program during a brief visit to this city, in which Consul Dalila Vázquez carried out different coordination efforts for the next opening of the Latin American and Spanish Film Festival (LASFF) there.

The Ambassador was received by the rector of Massey University and met other officials, as well as professors of the Spanish language program.

He also toured various farms and agricultural research laboratories to learn of New Zealand's successful experiences.

Commemoration of Cuba´s National Rebellion Day.

Wellington, July 24. To commemorate our National Rebellion Day, we inaugurated a photo exhibition about Cuba at the Havana Bar and Restaurant in this city.

To enjoy the exhibition, which will be on display until the end of August, the Latin American Ambassadors, friends of Cuba, and the general public attended.

With Cuban music, a special menu resulting from the collaboration of Consul Dalila Vázquez with chef Hoon, and mojitos, it was a night to get closer to Cuba and remember that July 26 that led us to the victory on January 1.

Ambassador speaks on business opportunities in Cuba.

Wellington, July 19. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés gave a presentation on Business Opportunities and Investments in Cuba, at an event at the Business School of the University of Victoria.

Sponsored by the Latin American chapter of the Asia Pacific Center for Excellence (LatamCAPE), the meeting was attended by a large group of young people, members of the Young Enterprise Trust.

The Ambassador highlighted the limited knowledge about opportunities in Cuba and Latin America in general and detailed the many advantages that the island offers.

Designated New Zealand Ambassador to Cuba visits us.

Wellington, July 15. The designated Ambassador of New Zealand to Cuba, with residence in Mexico, Sara Meymand, visited our Embassy to exchange about our bilateral relationship and say goodbye to her Cuban counterpart, with whom she has had several meetings.

Meymand is a young diplomat with a successful career at the Foreign Ministry and experience in the economic-commercial area.

Ambassador Edgardo Valdés updated her on the situation in Cuba and they talked about those areas in which we can expand our bilateral relationship, for which he offered his support.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez holds the United States responsible for the incidents in Cuba.

Havana, July 13. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, said at a press conference that the US government identified # COVID19 as an opportunity to reinforce the blockade and its aggression against our country.

Referring to the riots that occurred last Sunday, he affirmed that it has been a deliberate, cruel, and opportunistic attempt to take advantage of the conditions of a pandemic to try to strangle our economy.

Meeting of Latin American Ambassadors with the Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Wellington, July 6. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Trevor Mallard, offered a dinner to the accredited Latin American Ambassadors, in the company of the members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with our region.

In a friendly atmosphere, we had the opportunity to exchange with the co-chairs, Ricardo Menéndez and Angela Roberts, as well as with other members of the group, about the situation in our countries and our interest in strengthening ties with New Zealand.

Cuban Ambassador participates in academic event on foreign policy.

Dunedin, July 3. On July 2 and 3, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the 55th edition of the School of Foreign Policy of the University of Otago.

With a long tradition, this is one of the most prestigious academic events in the country.

Under the theme "New Zealand's foreign policy in a post-COVID era," interesting discussions were held with the participation of the Foreign Minister, Hon. Nanaia Mahuta, academics, and diplomats from various countries.

Cuban Ambassador attends Fieldays Agricultural Fair.

Mystery Creek, June 17. Invited by Peter Nation, CEO of New Zealand National Fieldays Society, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the largest agricultural fair in the country and one of the largest in the world, which took place between June 16 and 19.

At the event, in addition to greeting Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and thanking her for New Zealand's support for the Cuban resolution against the UN blockade, the Ambassador was able to learn directly about the innovations and advances in this sector and establish contacts with specialists and officials linked to this activity.

Cuban Ambassador participates in the inauguration of the Anne Frank Memorial.

Wellington, June 13. At the invitation of Vice Prime Minister Grant Robertson, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended this Sunday the inauguration of the Anne Frank Memorial, in Ellice Park in this city.

The event was attended by parliamentarians, diplomats, and members of the community, who joined in this tribute and demonstration of rejection of all forms of discrimination.
