Last Thursday, January 29, Casa de las Américas hosted a presentation by American journalists Noah Kulwin and Brendan James, producers of the podcast Blowback, who gave the talk "The United States Today: Interventionism and the New Left." During the event, they analyzed U.S. policy toward countries such as Cuba, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Angola, as well as the current decline in its ability to project economic and diplomatic power. The speakers emphasized the importance of education, research, and civic engagement as key tools for understanding and addressing the challenges of the contemporary international context.
They also reflected on contemporary forms of social mobilization, highlighting the protests against the genocide in Gaza as an example of organized response to interventionist and coercive policies.
Casa de las Américas announced that it will soon publish the full recording of the talk on its YouTube channel.
