Cuba attends the 48th Session of IFAD's Governing Council

Rome, February 12, 2025.- Ambassador Mirta Granda Averhoff, Permanent Representative to the Rome-based international organizations, is chairing the Cuban delegation attending the 48th session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), which takes place on February 12 and 13 in Rome.

“Catalysing investment at the first mile” as the general theme, the space is conducive for Governors to deliberate on pressing issues that define IFAD's role and impact on rural development and resilience. In addition, opportunities will be provided to exchange views and deliberate on cross-cutting issues of critical importance to the Fund's work, such as innovative financing mechanisms and participatory and inclusive development, with a focus on women and young people, the untapped potential of South-South and triangular cooperation, and the importance of multilateralism and the partnership approach based on associations in order to address the underlying causes of fragility.

At this event, the Ambassador is accompanied by the Deputy and Alternate Permanent Representatives of the diplomatic mission.
