El Embajador de Cuba ante Bélgica y la Unión Europea, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, desarrolló una productiva agenda de trabajo en Estrasburgo, donde sostuvo encuentros con eurodiputados de diferentes fuerzas poíticas y participó en actividades de intercambio cultural como parte de su visita a esta ciudad europea. Acompañaron al embajador la Consejera, Alba Alarcón Fonseca y la I Secretaria, Beatriz Lauzarique Montiel.
Durante su estancia, el Embajador sostuvo un fructífero intercambio con representantes del Grupo de la Izquierda en el Parlamento Europeo, en la que agradeció la solidaridad del grupo y su firme postura contra el bloqueo de Estados Unidos impuesto a Cuba. En un ambiente de respeto mutuo y diálogo constructivo, tuvo además la oportunidad de saludar a varios eurodiputados pertenecientes a dicha bancada.
Como parte de las actividades paralelas a la sesión parlamentaria, el diplomático cubano participó en “The Cigars Night”, evento organizado por la European Cigars Manufacturers Association (ECMA) y celebrado en el Château de Pourtalès en Estrasburgo. La velada reunió a los embajadores de Cuba, República Dominicana, Nicaragua y Perú, así como a eurodiputados invitados, en un espacio dedicado a resaltar la riqueza cultural y la tradición de los países representados. La esencia de Cuba estuvo presente a través del inconfundible aroma de sus tabacos y la calidez del ron cubano.
Esta visita permitió fortalecer los vínculos con distintos actores políticos europeos y contribuyó al intercambio respetuoso sobre temas relevantes de la agenda bilateral Cuba–Unión Europea. Los encuentros sostenidos ratificaron la importancia del diálogo, la cooperación y la diplomacia cultural en la construcción de relaciones más sólidas y mutuamente beneficiosas.

Cuban Ambassador makes fruitful visit to Strasbourg
The Cuban Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, carried out a productive work agenda in Strasbourg, where he held meetings with MEPs from different political parties and participated in cultural exchange activities as part of his visit to this European city. The ambassador was accompanied by Counselor Alba Alarcón Fonseca and First Secretary Beatriz Lauzarique Montiel.
During his stay, the ambassador held a fruitful exchange with representatives of the Left Group in the European Parliament, in which he thanked the group for its solidarity and its firm stance against the US blockade imposed on Cuba. In an atmosphere of mutual respect and constructive dialogue, he also had the opportunity to greet several MEPs belonging to that group.
As part of the activities parallel to the parliamentary session, the Cuban diplomat participated in “The Cigars Night,” an event organized by the European Cigars Manufacturers Association (ECMA) and held at the Château de Pourtalès in Strasbourg. The evening brought together the ambassadors of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru, as well as invited MEPs, in a space dedicated to highlighting the cultural richness and tradition of the countries represented. The essence of Cuba was present through the unmistakable aroma of its cigars and the warmth of Cuban rum.
This visit strengthened ties with various European political actors and contributed to a respectful exchange on issues relevant to the Cuba-European Union bilateral agenda.
