La Havana, Cuba, March 7, 2025. In the photovoltaic solar park La Sabana, on the outskirts of the city of Bayamo, capital of Granma, adjustments are finalized in the technological and civil assembly of the work for its synchronization, soon, with the National Electricity System (SEN).
Engineer Geider Mompié Rodriguez, director of Granma Electric Company, said that the total execution of this structure, with an installed generation capacity of 21.8 megawatts (MW), is more than 92 percent.
He said that, in La Sabana - the first of the four solar parks currently being run in the province - work is being done on the final phase of the technological assembly, while in the civil part of the work the cover, which includes the layout of fiber optics, remains pending.
These actions, the manager said, must be completed on 14 March, and then the adjustment and commissioning tests will begin, until the complete disposal of the park's operating rule, and their synchronization with the SEN.
As part of this program to promote the change of energy matrix to renewable energy sources, and the strategy of recovery of the National Electricity System, in Granma there is also progress in the construction of three other parks in the municipalities of Niquero, Manzanillo and Río Cauto.
In the territory, another programme is being carried out to restore 1,200 photovoltaic systems located in isolated homes that are not connected to the SEN, and it is planned to build two parks of 5 MW each, in the municipalities of Yara and Guisa.
