Declaración del Gobierno Revolucionario
¡Mientras haya una mujer o un hombre dispuestos a dar la vida por la Revolución, estaremos venciendo!
Cuba está viviendo bajo el asedio permanente del gobierno de los Estados Unidos, cuya escalada de amenazas se ha arreciado en los últimos meses. Al brutal cerco energético, que agrava la política genocida de bloqueo de las últimas seis décadas, se suman las declaraciones de representantes de la élite gubernamental estadounidense sobre pretensiones de agresión militar.
El costo material y humano de ese bloqueo constituye una vergüenza que carga sobre sus espaldas el gobierno del mayor imperio de todos los tiempos. Es un acto ilegal e inhumano, violatorio del derecho internacional, que cada año condena casi la totalidad de los países miembros de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas y que, según han confirmado recientes encuestas, es rechazado por la mayor parte de los hijos de la patria de Lincoln.
Frente a ese castigo colectivo, el pueblo cubano ofrece los más nobles y admirables ejemplos de resistencia. Desde que el pasado 29 de enero fuera decretada la asfixia en forma de Orden Ejecutiva, ha sido aún más estoica la respuesta de este pueblo que continúa enfrentando los retos del desabastecimiento en cada labor o actividad cotidiana.
En medio de tales urgencias se levanta también un entramado de calumnias para desacreditar a Cuba y a su gobierno. Desde la maquinaria mediática imperante se nos hace una guerra desleal, colmada de exageraciones, embustes y descalificaciones, que nunca señala al verdadero causante de la situación creada y culpa al Gobierno Revolucionario de la crisis que de manera calculada y fría se provoca por quienes nos agreden. Se recurre a pretextos tan mendaces como que nuestro país constituye una amenaza inusual y extraordinaria a la seguridad nacional estadounidense o a la designación como Estado que supuestamente patrocina el terrorismo.
Así se revela la hipocresía del verdugo, cuyas intenciones se describen en el Memorando del subsecretario de Estado Lester Mallory, en fecha tan temprana del proceso revolucionario como el 6 de abril de 1960, cuando en términos muy claros expresa el verdadero sentido de su criminal política:
…emplear rápidamente todos los medios posibles para debilitar la vida económica de Cuba. (…) Una línea de acción que, siendo lo más habilidosa y discreta posible, logre los mayores avances en la privación a Cuba de dinero y suministros, para reducirle sus recursos financieros y los salarios reales, provocar hambre, desesperación y el derrocamiento del Gobierno.
Este acoso se ha extendido también al plano de las relaciones bilaterales de Cuba con otros países. Estados Unidos ejerce presión constante sobre gobiernos de la región, no solo para que rompan lazos diplomáticos con la Isla, sino también para que desamparen a sus propios pueblos, expulsando a profesionales de la salud que han sido durante años un asidero de esperanza para los más pobres.
Aislarnos también forma parte de su estrategia; sin embargo, existen en el mundo pilares de dignidad, pueblos y gobiernos que no se doblegan. Ahí están los ejemplos de México, Rusia, China, Vietnam y otros países hermanos. Ahí están los integrantes del Convoy Nuestra América, quienes desafiando amenazas, presiones y riesgos, en gesto simbólico, decidieron entregarnos, más allá de la ayuda material, su respaldo; reafirmando la máxima martiana de que «quien se levanta hoy con Cuba se levanta para todos los tiempos».
Herederos de un legado histórico, con la sangre mambisa y rebelde en nuestras venas, honrando el ejemplo y el coraje de los héroes y mártires de la Patria; como los 32 bravos combatientes cubanos caídos en Venezuela y de los jóvenes que frustraron la infiltración terrorista por Villa Clara, afirmamos hoy que Cuba no será jamás un trofeo, ni una estrella más de la constelación estadounidense.
Somos una nación con una gran historia y convicciones que defender; de hombres y mujeres pacíficos, solidarios; un pueblo que cada día con su obra realiza una Vindicación de Cuba; y que como en las arenas de Playa Girón, hace 65 años, bajo el grito de ¡Patria o Muerte!, obtendrá la victoria en defensa de la soberanía y el socialismo.
En el año del centenario del Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, artífice de la primera gran derrota del imperialismo yanqui en América; con el privilegio de que el General de Ejército Raúl Castro Ruz, firme junto a su pueblo, continúa con el pie en el estribo; ratificamos la convocatoria de movilización nacional e internacional realizada este 16 de abril por el Primer Secretario del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba y Presidente de la República, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, y reafirmamos sus palabras:
«¡Mientras haya una mujer o un hombre dispuestos a dar la vida por la Revolución, estaremos venciendo!
«¡El carácter socialista de nuestra Revolución no es una frase del pasado, es el escudo del presente y la garantía del futuro!
«¡Girón es hoy y es siempre!»

Statement by the Revolutionary Government
Girón, today and forever!
As long as there is a woman and a man willing to give their life for the Revolution, we’ll be victorious!
Cuba lives under the constant siege of the United States government, whose threats have escalated in recent months. Adding to the ruthless energy siege—which has worsened the genocidal blockade policy over the past six decades—are statements by representatives of the U.S. governmental elite threatening military aggression.
The human and material cost of that blockade is a shame borne by the greatest empire in history.
This act—condemned every year by the vast majority of United Nations member states—is illegal and inhumane, as it violates international law. Moreover, recent polls show that it is largely opposed by U.S. citizens.
In the face of collective punishment, the Cuban people demonstrate the noblest and most admirable examples of resistance. Since the signing of the executive order on January 29, their response—while continuing to face daily challenges of scarcity—has become even more stoic.
Amid such urgencies many lies have arisen to discredit Cuba and its government. The dominant media machine is waging an underhanded war against us, one filled with exaggerations, lies, and slander, which never points to the true cause of the situation and instead blames the Revolutionary Government for the crisis that is being deliberately and cold-bloodedly pushed by those who attack us. They resort to such mendacious pretexts as claiming that our country poses an unusual and extraordinary threat to U.S. national security or that it has been designated as a state that allegedly sponsors terrorism.
This reveals the hypocrisy of the executioner, whose intentions are described in the memorandum by Under Secretary of State Lester Mallory, dated as early as April 6, 1960, in the revolutionary process, when he expresses in very clear terms the true nature of his criminal policy:
…to employ rapidly all possible means to weaken the economic life of Cuba. (…) A course of action that, while being as skillful and discreet as possible, achieves the greatest progress in depriving Cuba of money and supplies, to reduce its financial resources and real wages, provoke hunger, despair, and the overthrow of the government.
This harassment has also extended to the realm of Cuba’s bilateral relations with other countries. The United States exerts constant pressure on governments in the region, not only to sever diplomatic ties with the island, but also to abandon their own people by expelling health professionals who have for years been a source of hope for the poorest.
Isolating us is also part of their strategy; however, there are pillars of dignity in the world—peoples and governments that refuse to bow down. There are the examples of Mexico, Russia, China, Vietnam, and other sister nations. There are the members of the Nuestra América Convoy, who, defying threats, pressure, and risks, in a symbolic gesture, decided to offer us, beyond material aid, their support; reaffirming Martí’s maxim that “whoever stands with Cuba today stands with it for all time.”
Heirs to a historic legacy, with the blood of the mambises and rebels in our veins, honoring the example and courage of the heroes and martyrs of the Fatherland—such as the 32 brave Cuban combatants who fell in Venezuela and the young people who thwarted the terrorist infiltration through Villa Clara—we affirm today that Cuba will never be a trophy, nor just another star in the U.S. constellation.
We are a nation with a great history and convictions to defend; a nation of peaceful, united men and women; a people who, through their daily work, vindicate Cuba; and who, just as on the sands of Playa Girón 65 years ago, under the cry of “Fatherland or Death!”, will achieve victory in defense of sovereignty and socialism.
In the year marking the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the architect of the first major defeat of U.S. imperialism in the Americas; and with the privilege that Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, standing firm alongside his people, remains at the helm; we ratify the call for national and international mobilization issued on April 16 by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and we reaffirm his words:
“As long as there is a woman or a man willing to give their life for the Revolution, we will be victorious!
“The socialist character of our Revolution is not a phrase from the past; it is the shield of the present and the guarantee of the future!
“Girón is today and forever!”
