Message from the Vice President of the Palestinian National Council and Vice President of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in honor of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of his passing
Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz received a message from the Vice President of the Palestinian National Council and Vice President of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, Ali Faisal, honoring the memory of Fidel on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of his passing on November 25, 2016:
Faisal on the ninth anniversary of the death of President Fidel Castro.
The late President Fidel Castro, a key figure in the global revolutionary movement and an inspiration for national liberation movements.
On the ninth anniversary of the death of President Fidel Castro, Ali Faisal, Vice President of the Palestinian National Council and Vice President of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, stated that the great leader set a unique example of leadership, occupying a prominent and revolutionary position among the liberation movements of the peoples of the world in their struggle against old and new colonialism. He played a prominent role in the Non-Aligned Movement, which has always fought for liberation from colonial economic hegemony and defended national sovereignty and independence.
Faisal emphasized that the great leader was a source of inspiration for his people and for the peoples of the world who yearn for liberation and social progress. He was also a safety valve for preserving Cuba's security, stability, and progress, as well as its resilience in the face of decades of US embargo and Trump's new measures, which today include the militarization of the Caribbean Sea, threats of aggression against Venezuela, and provocations against Colombia and other free Latin American countries to secure his colonial interests at the expense of his people.
Faisal added that the Palestinian people and their resistance greatly appreciate the support of the late president and Cuba's continued support for the Palestinian people and their resistance to the brutal colonial occupation of the Zionist state of Israel.
Faisal praised the Cuban leadership, headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, for Cuba's continued support for the Palestinian people in the face of Israel's war of extermination, starvation, and settlement expansion. He praised their ongoing struggle to thwart the Greater Israel plan and the New Middle East project, to end the occupation, establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and ensure the return of Palestinian refugees to their land, in accordance with UN Resolution 194.
Faisal concluded by stating that the late and great President Fidel Castro is an eternal revolutionary icon in the conscience, hearts, and minds of the Palestinian people. A monument will be erected in his honor, rising toward the sky of freedom, in the heart of Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Palestine.
To you, O late president, the highest glory and eternal life, O giant of the global revolution and school of struggle, not only for the free peoples of Latin America, but for the whole world.
