Bruselas, 20 de agosto.- La Embajada de Cuba en Bélgica y Misión ante la Unión Europea acogió este jueves la presentación del libro Fidel Castro más allá del mito, de los autores belgas Katrien Demuynck y Marc Vandepitte, como parte de la jornada de actividades por el centenario del natalicio del Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz.
Las palabras centrales estuvieron a cargo del Embajador cubano, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, quien destacó el valor de la obra como una contribución al conocimiento y la comprensión de la trayectoria, el pensamiento y el legado de Fidel Castro desde una perspectiva histórica.
Durante el encuentro se resaltó la trayectoria de solidaridad con Cuba de Katrien Demuynck y Marc Vandepitte, amigos y defensores de la Revolución Cubana, cuya obra constituye un acercamiento a una de las figuras políticas más relevantes de Cuba y del siglo XX. El libro, prologado por Ignacio Ramonet y enriquecido con aportes de reconocidos intelectuales, propone una mirada que busca trascender las visiones simplificadoras sobre Fidel y contribuir a una reflexión sobre su papel en la historia de Cuba y en el escenario internacional.
En la actividad participaron amigos solidarios de Cuba, cubanos residentes en Bélgica y miembros de la Misión Diplomática cubana, quienes compartieron este espacio de homenaje y reflexión sobre la vida y obra del líder histórico de la Revolución.
La presentación forma parte del programa de actividades que desarrolla la Embajada de Cuba en Bélgica con motivo del centenario de Fidel Castro, dirigido a promover el conocimiento de su pensamiento, obra y legado y a acercar su figura a las nuevas generaciones.

Presented in Brussels: Fidel Castro Beyond the Myth
Brussels, August 20.- The Embassy of Cuba in Belgium and the Mission of Cuba to the European Union hosted this Thursday the presentation of the book Fidel Castro Beyond the Myth, by Belgian authors Katrien Demuynck and Marc Vandepitte, as part of the program of activities marking the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
The keynote remarks were delivered by Cuban Ambassador Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, who highlighted the value of the book as a contribution to understanding and gaining deeper insight into Fidel Castro’s trajectory, ideas, and legacy from a historical perspective.
The event also highlighted the longstanding solidarity with Cuba demonstrated by Katrien Demuynck and Marc Vandepitte, friends and supporters of the Cuban Revolution, whose work offers an approach to one of Cuba’s and the 20th century’s most prominent political figures. The book, with a foreword by Ignacio Ramonet and contributions from renowned intellectuals, offers a perspective that seeks to move beyond simplistic views of Fidel Castro and encourage reflection on his role in the history of Cuba and on the international stage.
The event was attended by friends of Cuba and members of the solidarity movement, Cuban residents in Belgium, and members of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission, who came together for this space of tribute and reflection on the life and work of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
The presentation is part of the program of activities organized by the Embassy of Cuba in Belgium to mark Fidel Castro’s centenary, aimed at promoting greater knowledge of his ideas, work, and legacy, and at bringing his historical figure closer to younger generations.
