President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Primer Minister of Belize John Briceño sign Cuba-Belize communiqué

Havana, April 28 (RHC)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister John Antonio Briceño signed a Joint Communiqué expressing the will of Cuba and Belize to continue strengthening their bilateral ties.

Both heads of government attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Collaboration on Climate Change and a Cooperation Agreement on Health, signed by the respective ministers.

Briceño, who arrived Wednesday in Havana on an official visit, earlier held a round of talks with Díaz-Canel, who led the official welcoming ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution.

The Belizean premier, who returns to Belmopan on Sunday, also paid tribute to National Hero José Martí by placing a wreath at the Monument located in Havana's Revolution Square and touring the nearby Memorial.

The premier was received in Havana by Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodriguez and expressed to the press his satisfaction at returning to Cuba, a country he described as an important ally of Belize.

Since 1990, Cuba has maintained a permanent medical brigade in Belize; the contribution projects extend to preserving the environment, the sugar industry, and tourism.
