Bruselas, 29 julio de 2022.- En días pasados más de 200 personas se dieron cita en la sede de la Embajada de Cuba en Bélgica y ante la Unión Europea para conmemorar el 69 aniversario del asalto a los cuarteles Moncada, en Santiago de Cuba, y Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, en Bayamo.
Esta celebración por el Día de la Rebeldía Nacional fue la ocasión propicia para que amigos entrañables y cubanos residentes en Bélgica expresaran su compromiso y apoyo incondicional a la Revolución Cubana.
El Partido del Trabajo de Bélgica (PTB), estuvo representado por Benjamin Pestieau, miembro de su dirección nacional, y por la diputada Françoise De Smedt, jefa de grupo del PTB en el Parlamento de Bruselas Capital. Durante el encuentro, Pestieau hizo un llamado urgente a la solidaridad con Cuba como la mejor manera de apoyar a su pueblo a sortear el criminal bloqueo impuesto por los Estados Unidos.
Freddy Tack, cofundador y vicepresidente de la asociación solidaria “Los Amigos de Cuba”, rememoró con orgullo el haber conocido a varios protagonistas de los sucesos del 26 de julio de 1953, durante sus múltiples viajes a la nación caribeña para participar en las celebraciones de esta significativa fecha.
Por su parte, Paola Polanco, presidenta del movimiento de solidaridad internacional INTAL, elogió la invaluable cooperación ofrecida por Cuba a los pueblos de África, Asia y América Latina y el Caribe. 
Rafael Correa, expresidente de Ecuador y líder latinoamericano, calificó el asalto a los cuarteles Moncada y Carlos Manuel de Céspedes como un hecho histórico de trascendencia universal. “Nosotros, desde nuestra sencilla trinchera les decimos que sus gestas revolucionarias fueron capaces de subvertir las sentencias a través de las cuales la hegemonía plasmó en la historia sus epopeyas y conquistas, porque Martí y Fidel son leyenda viva, pero también profecía, honor y sacrificio”, sentenció Correa.
Los cubanos residentes en Bélgica y demás asistentes, rindieron tributo a los mártires de la Patria; al tiempo que condenaron la política agresiva y cruel del gobierno de los Estados Unidos contra Cuba. Resaltaron que, a pesar de las dificultades económicas el pueblo cubano sigue resistiendo de manera creativa y sumando victorias.
Especial atención produjeron las palabras de la embajadora de Cuba en Bélgica y ante la Unión Europea, Yaira Jiménez Roig, quien señaló que ni el bloqueo estadounidense ni las acciones destinadas a la subversión y la desestabilización podrán doblegar a un país que trabaja por una sociedad cada vez más democrática, participativa e inclusiva.
Un momento de singular emoción fue la masiva respuesta de los asistentes ante la convocatoria realizada por la embajadora a sumarse al reto “Tu mano por Fidel”.
Como parte de los festejos, se bailó a ritmo de la contagiosa música tradicional cubana, interpretada por la agrupación “Ecos de Siboney”, integrada por descendientes del legendario artista cubano Compay Segundo. Además, se disfrutó del talento artístico de los queridos amigos latinoamericanos radicados en Bélgica: César Guzmán, Grecia García, David capilla y Florencia Martínez.

Celebration of Cuba's National Rebellion Day in Belgium
Brussels, July 26, 2022 - More than 200 people gathered at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Belgium and the European Union to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the assault on Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in Bayamo.
This celebration of the National Rebellion Day was the opportunity for close friends and Cubans living in Belgium to express their commitment and unconditional support for the Cuban Revolution.
The Workers' Party of Belgium(PTB) was represented by Benjamin Pestieau, a member of its national leadership, and by Deputy Françoise De Smedt, head of the PTB group in the Parliament of Brussels Capital. During the occasion, Pestieau made an urgent call for solidarity with Cuba as the best way to support its people in overcoming the criminal blockade imposed by the United States.
Freddy Tack, co-founder and vice-president of the solidarity association "Los Amigos de Cuba", proudly recalled having met several protagonists of the events of July 26, 1953, during his many trips to the Caribbean nation to participate in the celebrations of this significant date.
As for Paola Polanco, president of the international solidarity movement INTAL, she praised the invaluable cooperation offered by Cuba to the peoples of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Rafael Correa, former president of Ecuador and Latin American leader, described the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks as a historic event of universal transcendence. "We, from our humble trench, tell them that their revolutionary deeds were capable of subverting the sentences through which the hegemony wrote down in history their epics and conquests, because Martí and Fidel are living legends, but also prophecy, honor, and sacrifice," Correa said.
Cubans living in Belgium and other participants paid tribute to the martyrs of the Homeland; at the same time, they condemned the aggressive and cruel policy of the United States government against Cuba. They emphasized that, despite the economic difficulties, the Cuban people continue resisting creatively and counting victories.
The words of Cuba's Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, Yaira Jiménez Roig, attracted special attention. She pointed out that neither the U.S. blockade nor the actions aimed at subversion and destabilization will be able to break a country that is working for an increasingly democratic, participatory, and inclusive society.
A moment of singular emotion was the massive response of the people present to the call made by the Ambassador to join the challenge "Your hand for Fidel".
As part of the celebrations, people danced to the rhythm of the contagious traditional Cuban music, performed by the group "Ecos de Siboney", integrated by descendants of the legendary Cuban artist Compay Segundo. In addition, participants enjoyed the artistic talent of our cherished Latin American friends settled in Belgium: César Guzmán, Grecia García, David Capilla, and Florencia Martínez.
