Representantes de Cuba y de la Unión Europea se reunirán el próximo martes 16 de abril en La Habana, para celebrar el primer Diálogo sobre Desarrollo Sostenible Cuba-Unión Europea.
La delegación cubana estará presidida por el Director General de Asuntos Multilaterales y Derecho Internacional del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, y por la parte europea presidirá la delegación, el Director General de Cooperación Internacional y Desarrollo de la Comisión Europea, Stefano Manservisi.
Durante el intercambio se abordarán los avances alcanzados por Cuba y la Unión Europea en la implementación de la Agenda 2030 y sus Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, así como los principales desafíos enfrentados en el cumplimiento de esta importante tarea.
Como parte de esta reunión, el día 15 de abril tendrá lugar un encuentro de representantes de la sociedad civil cubana y europea, con el objetivo de intercambiar opiniones sobre el rol que deben desempeñar las organizaciones de la sociedad civil, en la consecución de los objetivos y metas de Desarrollo Sostenible.
Cuba tiene relaciones diplomáticas plenas con la UE y con sus 28 Estados miembros. Este diálogo sobre Desarrollo Sostenible se realizará en virtud del artículo 14 del Acuerdo de Diálogo Político y de Cooperación concertado entre ambas partes en 2016 y puesto en vigor, de manera provisional, en 2017.

Cuba and European Union to hold dialogue on Sustainable Development
CUBA, April 12th, 2019.- Representatives from Cuba and the European Union will meet next Tuesday, April 16th, in Havana, to hold the first Dialogue on Sustainable Development Cuba-European Union. The Cuban delegation will be headed by Director General for Multilateral Affairs and International Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, and the European part, by the Director General for International Cooperation and Development at the European Commission, Stefano Manservisi.
During the exchange, the parts will discuss the progress achieved by Cuba and the European Union on the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the challenges faced in the compliance of this important task.
Also, on April 15th, a meeting between representatives from Cuban and European civil society will be carried out, aiming at exchanging views on the role the organizations from civil society should have in the compliance of the objectives and goals to Sustainable Development.
Cuba has full diplomatic relations with the European Union and its 28 member States. This dialogue on Sustainable Development will occur by virtue of article 14 of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement adopted by both parts in 2016, which entered into force, provisionally, in 2017.
