The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) celebrated the 54th anniversary of its founding, at its headquarters in the city of Toronto.

The central words were in charge of Anna Di Carlo, leader of the Party, who made a balance of the work carried out during more than 50 years and defined the challenges for the present and future of this organization. Emotional messages of solidarity with Palestine and rejection of the hegemonic and imperialist practices of the U.S. government, especially its blockade and destabilizing strategy against Cuba, were also conveyed.

Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, conveyed a message of congratulations on this important date, highlighted the role of the militants of this Party in the current ideological struggle and expressed his gratitude for the solidarity of this organization with our country. He also denounced the intensification of the US blockade and its strong media campaign to distort the Cuban reality.

Also participating in the activity were renowned Canadian intellectuals, young people from this organization, members of different groups in solidarity with Cuba and of the Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto Juan Gualberto Gómez and members of the Cuban Consulate.

The program included the recitation of poems, the performance of patriotic music and a tour of the organization's library, which contains important works by different communist leaders, including the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.
