60th Anniversary of Cuban Medical Collaboration in the World Celebrated in Ghana.

Accra, May 20, 2023 - Close to the date on which Cuba's medical collaboration in the world began; May 23, 2023, the Cuban State Mission in Ghana met at the Embassy’s headquarters of the Antillean country in Accra, to celebrate such an important date for Cuba, which has always offered, with love, its help to the neediest.

 

In the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Ghana, Anette Chao García and Dr. Hafez Adam Taher, Director of External Health and Cooperation at the Ministry of Health of Ghana, the Head of the Medical Brigade in Ghana, Dr. Alicia Verdecia Charadán, introduced  made a historical review of Cuba's collaboration in the world and in Ghana in particular. In addition, Dr. Idael Cabrera Morales, on behalf of all the members of the Brigade, expressed the commitment to continue working and providing health care to the most needy wherever necessary, and thanked the Cuban people for their strength, which translates into the commitment of the doctors to carry out their work abroad.

 

As for Dr. Hafez Adam Taher, who was trained in the Caribbean island, highlighted the professionalism of the doctors working in Ghanaian hospitals, in which their tireless work prevails, and confessed the pride he feels when they talk about Cuban doctors. During the meeting he also announced that they are working to increase the number of collaborators and to diversify collaboration in the African country. He took advantage of the opportunity to thank the Cuban government, its diplomatic headquarters and the medical brigade for the 40 years of work in the African country, as well as the opportunity to train professionals in Cuba.

 

The Ambassador was in charge of closing the event and thanked for the opportunity to be all united in Cuban territory by having the Cuban Embassy as the venue for the event. She emphasized that it is unity and commitment what makes great works grow. He also commented that when talking about medical collaboration, the work of health technicians, researchers and the Labiofam Business Group with its anti-malarial products should also be remembered. She called for humility and hard work, without losing hope even in difficult times. He urged to make it a day of celebration, reflection and gratitude for all that has been achieved in these years and for how much we will be able to achieve in the future if we work together and with dedication.

 

The Cuban State Mission in Ghana, all united, reaffirms its commitment to the people of Cuba and the Revolution.
