Riyadh, May 23rd - Under the leadership of the Head of the Cuban Medical Mission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suiberto Hechavarría Toledo, its members participated in a videoconference to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the International Medical Cooperation of Cuba, marked by the dispatch of the first medical brigade from the Island to Algeria on May 23rd, 1963.
The Ambassador of Cuba in Saudi Arabia, Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada, also participated in the virtual conference, who initially conveyed on behalf of the government and in particular the Ministry of Public Health and its different institutions, the warmest congratulations to all the collaborators who are working in the Kingdom, dispersed throughout its geography.
As part of the videoconference, Dr. Suiberto explained the historical background of the Cuban internationalist medical cooperation, highlighting its achievements, values and principles. Likewise, he reviewed the development of medical cooperation in Saudi Arabia from its beginning in February 2014 to the present, emphasizing the consideration that the Saudi Minister of Tourism made about it during his recent official visit to Havana.
Some of the collaborators took part in the exchange from their workplaces or residence, to thank the congratulations and comment on some of the professional experiences lived in the Kingdom.
To conclude, the Ambassador reiterated the congratulations and praised the important work carried out by Cuban health professionals in Saudi Arabia, even in conditions of sacrifice and remoteness, contributing decisively to promoting bilateral relations with the Arab nation in the sphere of cooperation.
