The 69th Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks is celebrated in Toronto.

Members of the Cuban Consulate in Toronto participated in the activity organized jointly by the Cuban-Canadian Friendship Association, the Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Network (LACSN) and the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cubans Residing in Canada to celebrate the 69th Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.

The rainy weather did not prevent friends of Cuba from celebrating the heroic deed of July 26th with poems and songs allegorical to the date, as well as heartfelt words from members of solidarity and Cuban residents.

On the other hand, General Consul Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta stressed the importance of paying a well-deserved tribute to those who did not allow the ideas of the Apostle to die in the year of his centenary, and made his own the words of our Commander in Chief to summarize the essence of a people that does not bend, that resists, rises and wins in a daily battle against the genocidal blockade of the U.S., when he said: "We do not fight against the U.S. blockade. We do not fight for glory or honors; we fight for ideas that we consider just, to which, as heirs of a long list of examples, millions of Cubans have devoted their youth and their lives".

The Cuban diplomat also took the opportunity to ratify the solidarity vocation of our country and the will to overcome the economic crisis intensified by the tightening of the genocidal U.S. blockade, while denouncing the intensification of its anti-Cuban campaigns using mercenaries and the distortion of our reality in the press media, and thanked once again the growing signs of affection towards our country.
