In her speech, Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera expressed that the ideas and legacy of social justice of the Commander in Chief are present today more than ever in each one of those who fight for a better world. She pointed out that history immortalized Fidel Castro for his humanist and emancipating thought, which was always aimed at favoring the most dispossessed and that at the same time, his reflections and public statements were also aimed at making governments aware that a better world is possible.
The immortality of the life and work of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution is closely related to the political, social and economic work developed by Fidel during his long and fruitful history in the service of the homeland and the just causes of humanity.
His ideas go beyond the borders of the Greater Antilles and the American continent. It is in the imprint of every child, woman and elderly person who in the most distant latitudes of Asia and Africa has received the solidary help of doctors, paramedics, teachers, art or sports instructors. The symbols that Cuba nowadays displays in the international arena are the result of the teachings and the everlasting example of the Commander-in-Chief.
