African Union adopts resolution rejecting U.S. blockade against Cuba.

For the fifteenth consecutive time, the 37th Assembly of the African Union, composed of African Heads of State and Government, has adopted a resolution condemning the continuation of the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America. On this occasion, the African Union also calls for Cuba to be removed from the unilateral list of countries allegedly supporting terrorism.

The text reaffirms its full support for the Resolution on this issue adopted every year by the United Nations General Assembly and also deplores the measures implemented by the Government of the United States since November 9, 2017, which reinforce the blockade, and expresses its deep concern over the extension of its extraterritorial nature.

The African Union also recognizes that the blockade is the main obstacle to the implementation by Cuba of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations and shares this concern due to the importance it attaches, as a continental organization, to the achievement of the objectives of this agenda.
