Islamabad, March 21. Ali Hassan was only 10 years old when a powerful earthquake devastated much of northern Pakistan. According to what he has just told Prensa Latina, he keeps in his memory the moment when Cuban doctors arrived in that distant area of the South Asian geography.
"Cuban doctors were the first to arrive and the last to leave Pakistan, and that was very deep in my country and prompted us to come to become doctors on this island of happy and kind people," Ali told the news agency after his participation in the meeting Drums for Peace, organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
Alí, who is in his fifth year of Medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Clara, is one of the more than one thousand students from his country who since 2007 have studied and graduated free of charge in Cuban classrooms. EMBACUBA PAKISTAN
