Ambassador Mario Alzugaray visited today H.E. Teremoana Yala, High Commissioner of the Cook Islands to New Zealand, in order to coordinate his forthcoming trip to the Cook Islands to present his letters of credentials to the Queen´s Representative Tom Marsters.
Cuba and the Cook Islands established diplomatic relations in September 2002. As Small Islands States, both countries share similar views and challenges regarding international issues. Relations between both nations have strengthened following Cuba´s active involvement in cooperation projects in the Pacific region, more specific in matters related to public health, hosting students from the Cook Islands for medicine studies.
The Cuban ambassador will visit the Cook Islands from 2 - 4 of August, following a comprehensive program organized by relevant institutions in the Pacific nation.
