Roseau, Dominica. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Dominica, Ulises Arranz Fernández, held a meeting with Samantha Deon Letang, Director of Festivals and Events of the Ministry of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The meeting took place at the Embassy headquarters, on the eve of her departure to participate in the "41 Caribbean Festival" that takes place in the province of Santiago de Cuba from July 3 to 9, 2022.
During the meeting, the Director offered information on different artistic manifestations in Dominica and the work carried out with it by the institution she directs. On his part, the Ambassador referred to the history of the Caribbean Festivals and how they contribute to increasing the cultural exchange between our nations, so necessary to maintain the cultural identity of the Caribbean. They also referred to the possibilities of cultural exchange that opens up for the future, after the pause imposed by Covid-19 in the last two years.
The "41st Caribbean Festival" is dedicated this year to the 40th anniversary of “Casa del Caribe”, an institution that sponsors the event together with UNESCO; the four decades of the “Septeto Turquino” and the 30 years of the “Teatro Estudio Macubá”, three institutions with a notable presence in Cuba and the Caribbean.
