Ambassador of Cuba makes a courtesy visit to the Minister of Transport and Mining of Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica, July 9, 2022. Cuban Ambassador Fermín Quiñones Sánchez visited the Jamaican Ministry of Transport and Mining last Friday to hold a courtesy meeting with its head, the Honorable Audley Shaw, CD, MP.

At the meeting, both parties agreed on the need to increase cooperation in the transport sector, including increasing air frequencies and maritime connections between the two countries, since the proximity between the two islands creates positive synergies for the development of trade , logistics, and multi-destination tourism. Likewise, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the good coordination that exists between the aeronautical authorities of both countries, both bilaterally and within the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Ambassador Quiñones took the opportunity to update the Minister on the situation in Cuba and on the difficulties that the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposes on the Cuban people. He also thanked the incumbent and parliamentarian for his support of the motion that is presented each year in the Jamaican legislature demanding its immediate lifting.
