The Cuban ambassador to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, met with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. N. Ankhbayar. The General Director of the Department of the Americas, Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Anand Amgalan, was also present.
Both sides exchanged views on opportunities to develop traditional friendly relations and bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, they discussed the implementation of the activities agreed upon during the 4th round of Political Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of both countries, held in December 2021.
The Cuban ambassador updated him on Cuba, as well as on relations with the US and with Latin America and the Caribbean.
He also reported the granting this year of three scholarships for outstanding students to study at Cuban universities. The Secretary of State reiterated the gratitude of the Mongolian government for the continuity of the scholarship program.
More than 130 Mongolian professionals have graduated from Cuban universities in several decades and in December of this year it will be 62 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1960.
