Ambassador of Cuba to Mongolia meets with some agricultural and livestock managers and scientists

The Ambassador of Cuba to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, met with the Director of Cooperation of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Mr. E. Anar and the Director of Animal Health of the General Veterinary Authority of Mongolia, Dr. BYAMBA Boldbaatar. A specialist in parasitic and non-infectious diseases from the Veterinary Authority was also present.

They discussed the agricultural challenges of both countries and the possibilities of cooperation to deal with some of the pests and diseases that affect the agricultural sector.

The Ambassador informed them about Biotechnology in Cuba and some of its products such as vaccines for livestock, biofertilizers, biostimulants and biopesticides for organic agriculture and environmental protection.

Among other things, the diplomat referred to the rodenticide BIORAT, biodegradable and harmless to humans and other species, which reduces the rodent population by more than 95% in 7-10 days. BIORAT is registered in more than 23 countries, including Asian countries such as Vietnam, Laos, the Philippines and China.

He also referred to the achievement of GAVAC, the only vaccine in the world against ticks in cattle, specifically against the Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) species, in tropical and subtropical regions. GAVAC is registered in several countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, etc. and reduces the use of chemical products and estimated costs by more than 80%.

They agreed to continue exchanging information on various scientific  achievements of Cuban biotechnology and exploring options to develop bilateral cooperation.
