Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia participates in tree planting and opening ceremony of the tree planting campaign "Green City-Citizen Participation"

The Cuban ambassador to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, and his family participated on the weekend, along with diplomatic representatives from 21 other countries and international organizations, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in planting trees and the opening ceremony of the “Green City-Citizen Participation” tree planting campaign that took place in the “New Park”, in the Nalaikh district, on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar.

The event was opened by the Hon. Mr. S.Amarsaikhan, Member of Parliament and Deputy Prime Minister and Her Excellency B.Battsetseg, Minister for Foreign Affairs, who delivered the opening remarks.

On the occasion, the Ambassador thanked the Foreign Minister in person for the message of condolences and solidarity with the Cuban people, addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, on the occasion of the explosion of the Hotel Saratoga in Havana, on May 6th. The Minister was interested in the circumstances of the unfortunate accident and reiterated her condolences and solidarity to the families of the deceased and to the Cuban people.

The tree planting campaign in Mongolia is part of the "Billion Trees" national movement, launched by the country's President to promote care and respect for the environment, reduce the impact of global climate change, desertification and to protect and increase forest and water resources of the country.
