The Malaysian Socialist Party (Parti Sosialis Malaysia, PSM) developed this week the Solidarity Forum with the theme Resistance and Liberation in the 21st Century.
The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, was invited as a speaker at this event, which took place in a hybrid manner (in-person and online).
Florentino Batista spoke about Cultural Colonization, and how the phenomenon of categorizing and labeling certain nations or situations dominates the global discourse of the major media and governments.
Regarding this manipulation, he referred to how, for years, the media has called dictatorships to governments that do not comply with imperialist wishes and now with massive access to the Internet, false information has spread, always negative, about countries like Cuba.
For this reason, Batista González called to fight against this oppression by the media and propaganda against our countries and the world left.
In addition, he explained the current situation in Cuba and how the US blockade has meant a great cost for the economy and for the people of our country.
Regarding the blockade and the continuous sanctions of the governments of the United States, which maintain their ferocity, he recalled that it is also a genocide, which has lasted more than 60 years and which seeks the suffocation of our people.
In his speech, the Cuban ambassador also referred to the need to focus on the cause of Palestine and the reasons behind this genocide and recalled Cuba's constant support for this cause from the beginning.
During the evening, speakers from several nations called for an end to the genocide committed by Israel against Palestine, while demanding an end to the aggressive actions of the United States against Cuba, including the economic, commercial and financial blockade that has been maintained by more than 60 years.
