Baseterre, January 13, 2023- On the morning of this Friday, at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Basseterre, the Head of the diplomatic mission, David Rivero Pérez, and the Permanent Secretary of Education, Lisa Pistana met to review issues of common interest.

The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, made it possible to verify the good state of cooperation between both countries in the educational sector and evidenced the mutual interest in continuing to expand the traditional link to other areas, with an emphasis on academic exchanges.

As notifyed by the diplomat, the amounts of university and postgraduate scholarships that the Cuban government offers each year to Caribbean students as part of the cooperation agreements with CARICOM countries, will be higher starting in 2023, taking into account the agreements of the last Summit of this regional organization, held last December in Barbados.

Many of the general practitioners that the Federation has today have graduated in Cuba, and for the authorities of St. Kitts and Nevis it is of great interest that some of them return to the Greater Antilles to continue their training as specialists in different branches of Medicine.

The Ambassador also addressed matters related to the International Pedagogy Congress 2023, which is organized every year by the Cuban Ministry of Education. On this occasion, Cuba is also convening a conclave of this sector Ministers from the G77 + China, in its capacity as President of said organization.

For her part, the Permanent Secretary thanked Cuba for its historic collaboration with St. Kitts and Nevis, in this and other sectors, and the government's willingness to continue and strengthen it.
