St George, January 19. At the headquarters of the Ministerial Complex, the Honorable Philip Telesford received the Ambassador of Cuba in Grenada, Ivette Martínez Leyva, in the presence of the Chancellor, Honorable Joseph Andall and the director of St George's General Hospital, Dr. Tyhiesia Donald.
The newly appointed Minister for the Health portfolio thanked the Cuban collaborators in Grenada for the good work and showed willingness to extend and deepen the services provided. For her part, the Cuban diplomat referred to the commitment and responsibility in the doctors' performance and highlighted the potential for the application of Cuban treatments for recurring diseases on the island, such as Heberprot for the cure of diabetic foot.
The occasion was conducive for both parties to review different aspects of the bilateral medical cooperation agreement, which will be subject to review and adjustment for mutual interest. Minister Telesford expressed appreciation for the scholarships given to Grenadian students in the area of health. The Ambassador reiterated Cuba's commitment to continue being supportive and deepening relations between both countries, which are celebrating their 45th anniversary.
