Ambassador met the Saudi-Cuban Parliamentary Friendship Committee in Shura

Riyadh, January 20th – Responding to a previous invitation from the president of the Saudi-Cuban Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Consultative Council (Shura), Dr. Ibrahim Bin Mahmoud Al-Nahas, the Ambassador of Cuba, Vladimir González Quesada, met the members of the abovementioned committee to offer an update on the Island from the political, economic and social point of view as well as an assessment of the current state of bilateral relations.

The diplomat made an initial lecture, in which he presented fundamental data on the Caribbean nation, the structure of its State and government with emphasis on the new organization and procedure of the National Assembly of People's Power, the evolution of bilateral ties with the Kingdom in recent years and the incidence of Covid-19 pandemic in Cuba and its fight with homegrown vaccines.

After this lecture, an exchange session was opened in which the members of the committee evacuated all their concerns through the Ambassador's explanations, while recognizing the important achievements made by Cuba since the triumph of the Revolution in different spheres such as health, science and education.

Likewise, Shura’s representatives spoke out for continuing to promote bilateral relations, particularly at the parliamentary level, and for expanding cooperation in health and higher education sectors, even suggesting to make the necessary coordination for eventual collaboration in matter of confronting Covid-19.

The Saudi-Cuban Parliamentary Friendship Committee is made up of 14 members with different professional profiles, and one of its objectives is to promote, from its seat in Shura, relations with other parliaments and similar committees in friendly countries. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
