Ambassador from the Republic of Cuba to Saint Kitts and Nevis presents Letters of Credence

Basseterre, January 12, 2022.- The Ambassador of Cuba to the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, David Rivero Pérez, today presented his Letters of Credence in an official ceremony, to His Excellency H.W. Tapley Seaton, Governor General of the nation.

The event took place at Government House in Basseterre, where the new head of the diplomatic mission and his host held a cordial meeting in which they highlighted the historic ties of solidarity and friendship that unite both peoples and reaffirmed the will to work together to strengthen bilateral relations in areas of common interest.

Governor Seaton expressed his admiration for Cuba and its people, made assurances of the continued support of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the struggle for the lifting of the United States blockade; and thanked Cuba for the cooperation in the areas of health and education, while expressing his interest in maintaining the presence of Cuban doctors on the Caribbean island and continuing the training of local professionals in Cuban universities.

For his part, Ambassador Rivero conveyed a message of friendship from the Cuban Government and people and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the good state of existing ties and expanding them in other areas of collaboration.

Finally, he expressed his gratitude for the historic position of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis in the vote in favor of the resolution against the blockade that the United Sates imposes on Cuba; and  reiterated his thanks for the recent donation of medical supplies to Havana, to support the fight against Covid-19.
