Memorial dedicated to Malaysian Airlines flight 653, where Cuban ambassador Mario García Incháustegui and his wife lost their lives

The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, visited the memorial dedicated to those who died on Malaysian Airlines Flight 653, where the Cuban ambassador Mario García Incháustegui and his wife, Gladys Delgado Ortiz, lost their lives 47 years ago.
The memorial, located in the town of Johor Bahru, in the south of the Asian country, remembers the victims of the terrorist attack that took place on December 4, 1977 and in which 100 people of various nationalities died.
Mario García Incháustegui, ambassador to Japan, and Gladys Delgado Ortiz, his wife, died in that air disaster, when the plane they were traveling in was hijacked when they were heading to Malaysia, where he was a concurrent ambassador.
Incháustegui was the first Cuban ambassador accredited to Malaysia. In addition to being Permanent Representative to the United Nations, he was appointed important missions such as: Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy in Paraguay; Ambassador to the Republic of Uruguay; Ambassador to the Republic of Chile and Ambassador to Japan and Malaysia at the moment of his death.
