On April 19 unites the history of Venezuela and Cuba, as was pointed out by the ambassadors of both countries during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Institute of Culture and Cooperation. That day commemorates the 208th anniversary of the beginning of the process of struggle for Venezuelan independence and the 57th anniversary of the Victory of Playa Girón, when the revolutionary forces defeated the invasion of the Cuban territory directed, financed and organized by the US.
As stated by the Venezuelan Ambassador, Reina Arratia, the beginning of the struggle for independence led by the Liberator Simon Bolivar, was difficult and glorious. With the help of El Libertador, the Venezuelan Army helped free five nations from the Spanish yoke.
For his part, Cuban Ambassador Narciso Reinaldo Amador emphasized the commitment of the Cuban revolutionaries to continue the work of the heroes Simón Bolívar, José Martí, Chávez and Fidel and to continue advancing in unity and integration.
Both speakers stressed that Cuba and Venezuela are determined to be free, sovereign and independent.
