Austrian solidarity manifests itself in rejection of the blockade against Cuba

Vienna, October 30. Organized by the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG), a demonstration took place in Vienna in rejection of the blockade against Cuba and in support of the vote in the United Nations on the resolution that stresses the need to put an end to that policy unjustly applied by the United States.

The event outside the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, just when in New York there was support for Cuba, was attended by members of the Association, the Austrian Communist Youth (KJÖ), the Youth of the Labor Party (JUNGENDFRONT) and the Communist Trade Union (KOMINTERN).

During the event, the leaders of all the political forces in attendance delivered speeches demanding an end to the blockade and the removal of Cuba from the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism. Each intervention stressed that Cuba is not alone and that Austria will continue to accompany the Cuban people in their struggle against the blockade.

At the close of the activity, Hermann Pernerstorfer, President of the ÖKG announced the results of the voting and the participants expressed slogans of support for Cuba.

In the last two years, the ÖKG has called for these demonstrations and maintains an active solidarity work, including the sending of important donations to Cuba and to projects such as MediCuba Europa aimed at alleviating the effects of the blockade on the Cuban population.
