As part of his working visit to Nepal, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Cuba in Nepal, resident in India, Abel Aballe Despaigne, visited the municipality of Bhaktapur, located in the Kathmandu Valley, where he was received by the local leader and chairman of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), Narayan Man Bijukchhe (Rohit), and other local authorities.
In the meeting with the party leader, both stressed the historic ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples, as well as the interest in strengthening ties between the NWPP and the Communist Party of Cuba. The Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude for the various expressions of friendship and solidarity towards the Cuban government and people.
Rohit, for his part, expressed gratitude for the help provided by more than 40 professionals of the “Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade” after the earthquake in Nepal in 2015 and reiterated the invariable support to the Cuban people in their just struggle against the blockade and the exclusion of Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Diplomat Abel Aballe was also received by Bhaktapur Municipality chief Sunil Prajapati and Bagmati State Assembly member and NWPP central member Surendra Raj Gosain.
He also made a tour of the city, where he visited two university study centers, Khwopa College of Engineering and Bakthapur College; the hospital where members of the Cuban Medical Brigade that assisted that country after the 2015 earthquake worked; and the historical center of the town. In these exchanges it was discussed the possibilities to expand cooperation relations and exchange of experiences in health; education; protection, renovation and management of historical heritage sites; tourism and local administration.
